In an exciting next step, Viking Ocean Cruises‘ new and first vessel – the 930-guest Viking Star – has completed its sea trials in the Aegean Sea. To celebrate the occasion, the cruise line has released an exceptional video below showing the fascinating process of taking the ship to sea for her first time. A total of 80 tests were completed to verify the cruise ship’s engine and propulsion performance and extending to the navigation systems and cabin acoustics.
“Following six months of nonstop construction since her float out, this was a major milestone for Viking Star, and we are proud to be another step closer to launch,” said Torstein Hagen, Chairman of Viking Cruises. “Now we can focus on the finishing touches, and we look forward to welcoming guests onboard in two months’ time.”
The Viking Star – now in final outfitting and interior decorating at the Fincantieri shipyard – is now that much closer to greeting her first guests on April 11, her christening on May 17, and her highly anticipated inaugural season to follow. She will be christened in Bergen, Norway on Norwegian Constitution Day by Bergen Mayor Trude Drevland.
