Like San Diego – as we previously reported – there is quite a lot of roundtrip cruise activity in Los Angeles from the city’s homeports of San Pedro and Long Beach as well.
In fact, today, the luxurious Silver Spirit from Silversea Cruises is embarking on a lengthy 31-day Hawaiian and French Polynesian itinerary, and Cunard Line’s Queen Elizabeth is set for an extraordinary 36-day cruise to Hawaii, French Polynesia, Samoa and New Zealand next week on February 4, 2013.
But more regularly, it’s Carnival Cruise Lines, Princess Cruises, and Norwegian Cruise Line that frequent Los Angeles.
Carnival Cruise Lines
Carnival Cruise Lines sails exclusively from Long Beach including year-round 3- and 4-day voyages on the Carnival Inspiration to Ensenada, Mexico, plus Catalina Island on the longer variety.

The Carnival Miracle is scheduled on week-long Mexican cruises beginning in March 2013, leaving only for the summer Alaskan cruise season – between April and September – as well as a 15-day Hawaiian cruise in October, December and next January.
Also in 2014, the Carnival Imagination will cruise to Mexico on a handful of 2- or 4-day sailings.
Princess Cruises
Like Carnival, Princess Cruises also has a steady stream of cruise ships coming in and out of Los Angeles, from the port of San Pedro. Now until May of 2013, the 109,000-gross ton Golden Princess regularly sails on 2-week voyages to and from Hawaii, and later she will cruise the California Coast roundtrip from September to December of 2013 on 3- and 4-day jaunts. Looking even further out, the ship will embark on an extra long 28-day trip to Hawaii, Tahiti and Samoa on April 1, 2014.

The Sapphire Princess – featured in one of our successful video reviews – certainly takes the cake for featuring the largest variety of itineraries, alternating between 7-day Mexican, 14- and 15-day Hawaiian, and 3- to 7-day California Coastal cruises from now through April of 2014, excepting the May to September Alaskan cruise seasons. For good measure, she too even charts a course to Hawaii, Tahiti and Samoa on a 28-day journey on October 19, 2013.
Filling in any gaps is the Star Princess with another 4-week Hawaiian, Tahitian and Samoan cruise on March 26th of 2013, a 14-day Hawaiian cruise on April 23rd of 2013, a 7-day California Coastal cruise on September 29th of 2013, and then 15-day Hawaiian cruises from October 2013 to May 2014.

For those interested in experiencing the Panama Canal roundtrip, the Coral Princess will embark on a 2-week voyage to Ft. Lauderdale, Florida on April 20, 2013 with stops that include Costa Rica, Colombia, Aruba, and Guatemala immediately followed by a 2-week return trip, affording passage through the engineering marvel twice.
Her sister ship, the Island Princess (pictured in the header above), is similarly scheduled with 2-segment full circle Panama Canal cruises that include stops at Nicaragua and Cabo San Lucas, Mexico in addition to Guatemala on February 15, 2014 and stops at those ports instead of Guatemala on March 17th and April 16th of 2014.
Norwegian Cruise Line
Norwegian Cruise Line will join the fray as it returns to 7-day roundtrip Mexican Riviera sailings, deploying the Norwegian Star to Cabo San Lucas, Mazatlan and Puerto Vallarta on December 22nd and 29th of 2013 and then again consistently from March to April 2014.
