The Regal Princess Floats Out Ahead of the Royal Princess Launch

The launch of the new Royal Princess from Princess Cruises is fast approaching, and the line yesterday just floated out her sister ship to follow, the new Regal Princess. With the primary structure complete and afloat, the vessel will now reside at the outfitting dock to finish off all of her interior details. Carolyn Spencer Brown (pictured above with Princess Cruises Executive Vice President, Rai Caluori) acted as the new ship’s godmother at the Fincantieri shipyard ceremony in Italy.

“To mark this important milestone we selected a woman who lives and breathes the cruise industry,” said Alan Buckelew, president and CEO of Princess Cruises. “Carolyn has been the editor-in-chief for Cruise Critic for 10 years and not only is she a champion of cruising, she’s helped to build an avid community of cruisers. Her passion for cruising made her the perfect choice to serve as madrina for our new Regal Princess.”

The Regal Princess will launch in June of 2014 and will be outfitted similarly to the upcoming Royal Princess which is set to launch this June of 2013 and will also feature SeaWalk, a dramatic cantilevered and glass-floored walkway that spans over the ocean below, as well as Princess Live!, a new at-sea television studio for Princess Cruises. Before then you can tour the latest shipyard photos of the Royal Princess below…
