Silver Galapagos Sets Sail for Adventure

Silversea Cruises has recently launched its second expedition vessel – the Silver Galapagos – after giving the newly acquired cruise ship (pictured above) a substantial Silversea-styled makeover. The intimate 100-guest vessel was christened by the ship’s godmother and daughter of Silversea Cruises’ chairman, Costanza Lefebvre d’Ovidio, and set sail for adventure on September 28, 2013.

The luxurious Silver Galapagos will follow seven-day roundtrip itineraries from Baltra Island, exploring the pristine landscapes and wildlife (like the playfully photobombing sea lion above) that the Galápagos Islands are known for. Other famous fauna include land iguanas, giant tortoises, blue- and red-footed boobies, marine iguanas, penguins and Darwin’s famous finches.

Complimentary expeditions are led shoreside by an expert team of nature guides, certified by the Galápagos National Park Service, while Silversea luxuries permeate everywhere onboard. The Silver Galapagos is an all-suite ship that includes a new fitness centre, massage room, beauty salon, outdoor Jacuzzi, outdoor furniture and The Grill, Silversea’s signature al fresco restaurant.

Manfredi Lefebvre d’Ovidio, Silversea’s chairman, says, “It is our aim that this ship will not only offer our guests the highest level of comfort and service, but also enlighten them to the rarity and beauty of the Galápagos Islands.” Plus, Silversea will launch a third expedition vessel in March 2014 – the Silver Discoverer.
