Seabourn Cruise Line Lays Keel for New Seabourn Encore

Seabourn Cruise Line is one step closer to introducing its latest luxury cruise ship – the Seabourn Encore – in late 2016 now that the vessel’s keel has been laid. This step marks a special moment in the construction at the Fincantieri shipyard in Marghera, Italy, and a ceremony was attended by Holland America Group Executive Vice President Fleet Operations Keith Taylor and Antonio Quintano, director of Fincantieri’s Marghera shipyard, among others.

The all-suite 41,700-GRT ship is based on Seabourn’s latest three Odyssey-class liners and will be the first of two new ships to be built for the luxury line over the next three years. The new design will feature one added deck and expanded public areas. Seabourn Encore will carry just 600 guests.

“Set to debut as the most modern and acclaimed ship in the ultra-luxury segment, the keel laying of Seabourn Encore represents another pivotal stage in the evolution of small-ship cruising,” said Seabourn President Richard Meadows. “This is an important milestone and we look forward to revealing further progress and highlights of Seabourn Encore in the months ahead.”
