Norwegian Cruise Line‘s upcoming 164,600 gross ton Norwegian Escape has received its hull art and stamp of approval from artist Guy Harvey. Launching in Miami, Florida this November, the new cruise ship is the line’s largest vessel and artist’s largest canvas. Harvey recently had a chance to visit the Meyer Werft shipyard in Germany to inspect it all for himself.

“I’m so proud to showcase the incredible marine life of the Caribbean on the largest canvas a human could possibly paint,” said Dr. Guy Harvey. “After weeks of work, the artisans at Meyer Werft have done an incredible job of recreating my art on such a vast format. I’m overjoyed at the level of detail that has been achieved and I can’t wait to see Norwegian Escape in her element out on the ocean.”

The Caribbean canvas is more than 1,000 feet in length from stem to stern and is filled with custom art of Harvey’s signature sailfish, sting rays, sea turtles, whale sharks and other tropical fish. The design was first applied by a laser projection that was outlined, penciled, taped and painted by hand. What’s more according to the line, “Guy Harvey Ocean Foundation-produced documentaries will be shown on board Norwegian Escape in staterooms to educate guests on how they too can help with marine conservation.”
