What will become Norwegian Cruise Line‘s largest ever and newest vessel – the Norwegian Escape – has now been floated out from its covered building dock at the Meyer Werft shipyard in Papenburg, Germany. The 164,600-ton cruise ship began construction in September 2014 and will launch on October 22, 2015 after its last finishing work. It is the first Breakaway Plus-class ship, carrying 4,200 guests.

“Meyer Werft has done an excellent job with the construction of Norwegian Escape,” Norwegian Cruise Line’s President and Chief Operating Officer Andy Stuart said. “The ship’s float out brings us one step closer to bringing the next evolution of Freestyle Cruising to the world and we couldn’t be more excited.”
The next phase in final assembly is the placement of the ship’s funnel and a third story to the ropes course, making it the largest at sea. The ship is scheduled to be conveyed down the river Ems on September 16, and its seven-day Eastern Caribbean cruises will begin on November 14, 2015.
