As a standard on any length Carnival cruise, the sea days feature what I feel is the best dining option on the high seas…..brunch. Sleep late or just enjoy a mid-morning to early afternoon meal in the main dining room, complete with huevos rancheros, macaroni and cheese, or eggs benedict – comfort foods at their best.
Activities onboard consist of those similar to other cruise lines such as trivia, bingo, and casino games. But unique to Carnival alone is The Punchliner Comedy Club Presented by George Lopez featuring comedy shows for adults only as well as family-friendly ones.
Carnival is also featuring onboard concerts from now until at least the end of the year, showcasing such artists as Jewel and Lady Antebellum. These Carnival LIVE concerts are available at a price less than any charged at a land based concert by the same performers. We were lucky enough to have seen Styx perform, and they rocked the house with many of their favorite songs, such as Lady and Come Sail Away to name a few. VIP tickets can also be purchased, offering a chance for a meet-and-greet photo with your favorite artist and reserved seating in the first 3 rows of the theater, an option well worth the money!
New to Carnival and for guests of all ages is the Towel Animal Theater featuring the towel animals that are left in the staterooms every night! This was well done and was a very enjoyable treat indeed!
On the food side of offerings exclusive to Carnival is the Taste Bar where guests can try tapas-sized samplers of foods from restaurants on the other Carnival ships, all included in the price of the cruise. And of course there are the usual meal options such as the grill for burgers and hot dogs, and the main dining room with a wide choice of entrees plus extra-charge favorites such as filet mignon and even surf and turf. We thoroughly enjoyed the filet, easily one of the best steaks we’ve ever had at sea.
