MSC Cruises Celebrates New MSC Seaside Construction and Details

When MSC Cruises’ new MSC Seaside launches in December 2017 year-round from Miami, Florida, it will feature a number of shipboard innovations like the longest zip line at sea and an interactive 5D cinema. Besides the release of such new details, the line has also celebrated the cruise ship’s traditional coin ceremony during construction.

Being built by Fincantieri at its Monfalcone, Italy shipyard, the Seaside is just a part of MSC’s massive $10.2 billion expansion program. The 160,000-ton, 4,140-guest ship takes inspiration from a “beach condo concept” to emphasize the surrounding ocean environment. A large gallery of renderings can be viewed in the slideshow below.

“MSC Seaside combines Fincantieri’s Italian flair and excellence in design with MSC Cruises’ global vision and focus on innovation for both hardware and product,” said Gianni Onorato, CEO of MSC Cruises. “This prototype is significantly different from anything we have ever built before as this is a ship dedicated to cruising in warm seas. The design of the ship embodies our passion for the sea with innovative features to enhance the enjoyment of the open water and sunshine for our guests. With the highest ratio of outdoor spaces on any of MSC Cruises’ ships, guests will also enjoy an increased number of balcony staterooms, sea views and public areas.”

With that in mind, there are outdoor fitness facilities, cabanas for spa treatments and three glass-railed and floored catwalks extending over the sides of the ship. One is almost 100 feet in length stretching across the top deck, and the other two are 130 feet long, making up a portion of the ship’s 360-degree al fresco promenade deck that features outdoor dining venues.
