Live Voyage Preview: Disney Wonder, Pixar California Coastal 2012

On this upcoming Sunday, September 16, 2012, I will be onboard the Disney Wonder for a seven-night California Coastal cruise sailing roundtrip from Los Angeles. This will be my 49th cruise in total and my second onboard the Disney Cruise Line.

What makes this cruise particularly special is that it’s one of four Pixar cruises that the Disney Cruise Line is hosting, and John Lasseter – Chief Creative Officer, Walt Disney Animation and Pixar Animation Studios; Principal Creative Advisor, Walt Disney Imagineering (lounging with his friends above) – will be presenting on this one only.

We invite you to return to PopularCruising.com for my Live Voyage Review where I’ll extensively report on this fantastic cruise experience. The four Pixar-specific sailings on the Disney Wonder begin September 16th and run through October 14th, 2012 in what are poised to be a sort of D23 Expo – Disney’s biennial fan convention – for Pixar at sea.

Onboard will be meet-and-greets with Pixar characters Remy, Woody, Buzz Lightyear, Jessie, Mr. Incredible, and more. The 3D version of Finding Nemo will premiere on these cruises to coincide with the shoreside release, and as a bonus, all the other famous Pixar films will be screened too.

Plus, actual Pixar artists and filmmakers will present behind-the-scenes looks at the Pixar process and their latest film, Brave, along with sneak peeks at upcoming films. In addition to John Lasseter, Jay Ward – CARS Franchise Guardian for Pixar Animation Studios – will also be presenting on the September 16th cruise. Click here to discover what Pixar creatives will be onboard the other sailings.

And on top of all of that, there will be an onboard Art of Pixar exhibit featuring rarely seen concept art like storyboards, character sketches, environment paintings, and maquettes. Also, a commemorative lithograph created by Pixar artist and Brave co-director/screenwriter, Steve Purcell, will be given to guests onboard these special sailings.

In fact, there are still bookings available for you to join these very unique seven-night voyages that will set sail in and out of Los Angeles and visit San Francisco, San Diego, and Ensenada, Mexico. For more information check out the video below and visit the Disney Cruise Line website here.
