Construction Begins on Seabourn Cruise Line’s New Seabourn Encore

The next luxury cruise ship from Seabourn Cruise Line, the Seabourn Encore, has begun construction with the vessel’s initial steel cutting at the Fincantieri shipyard in Italy. Present at the ceremony were Seabourn President Richard Meadows and Antonio Quintano, director of Fincantieri’s Marghera yard.

“The cutting of steel for Seabourn Encore is an important milestone in the evolution of both our beautiful fleet and the ultra-luxury cruise segment overall,” said Meadows. “We’re looking forward to seeing the ship come together and are excited to continue to add to our fleet. With Adam D. Tihany’s innovative design vision and Fincantieri’s excellent craftsmanship, Seabourn Encore will be the most beautiful ultra-luxury ship ever built.”

Particularly appropriate to Seabourn’s current fleet developments, two Seabourn Legend crew members (pictured in the header above) were at the event to represent the last remaining of the three original Seabourn cruise ships before it too leaves the fleet. All of this is of course in anticipation for the luxury line’s highly anticipated future and new ships.

The forthcoming Seabourn Encore will be based on the line’s successful Odyssey-class ships with further expansions and enhancements. Sister ship, Seabourn Ovation is also scheduled to follow. For more information and to follow the new ships’ progress, visit Seabourn Cruise Line‘s website here.
