The ambitious 49-day drydock transformation of the Carnival Destiny into the Carnival Sunshine is fast approaching, and to preview the makeover, Carnival Cruise Lines has unveiled an excellent virtual tour video of the redesigned ship on its website here: www.carnival.com/sunshine The site will also host new photos and videos documenting the process as it takes place.
Extensive modifications planned for the updated ship include Serenity (rendered above) and were previewed and illustrated in our Building Excitement: Carnival Cruise Lines Goes All In article.

Carnival’s Sunshine promotion also includes a social media contest wherein participants can win memorabilia pulled from the former Carnival Destiny herself. The contest is detailed here: www.carnival.com/grabyourdestiny Points are earned according to one’s activity on the site such as taking the virtual ship tour and watching the contest video. The top earner will win the grand prize of a trip for two aboard the new Carnival Sunshine.
Carnival Sunshine is scheduled to launch on April 12, 2013 with a 14-day Mediterranean sailing from Venice, Italy. After a season of cruising in Europe, the ship will cross the Atlantic to then embark year-round on Caribbean cruises from her homeport of New Orleans, Louisiana beginning in November.
