Carnival Cruise Line and Martina McBride to Welcome Carnival Freedom to Texas

On February 14, 2015, Carnival Cruise Line and Martina McBride (pictured with her band above) will welcome Carnival Freedom to Galveston, Texas, the ship’s new year-round homeport. The celebration will include the first on-deck Carnival LIVE concert with performances by the country music star and will also honor U.S. military families providing them with an all-expenses-paid day and night aboard the ship.

“The arrival of Carnival Freedom to its new Galveston homeport is historic as it marks the first time a cruise line has based three year-round ships – [Carnival Freedom, Carnival Triumph and Carnival Magic] – in Texas,” said Jim Berra, chief marketing officer for Carnival Cruise Line. “We’re thrilled to celebrate this occasion by giving back to the great state of Texas and welcoming aboard military families who make our freedom possible.”

The event will occur in conjunction with Operation Homefront, a national non-profit organization dedicated to providing financial and other assistance to military families, that will be presented a check from Carnival in the amount of $100,000 ahead of the concert. Martina McBride’s performance will mark her return as one of the cruise line’s musical artists in the Carnival LIVE Concert Series, where guests have the opportunity to enjoy popular music right onboard the ship.

We too will be on covering the festivities and a special 6-day cruise to follow. So stay tuned for all the fun! The Carnival Freedom will then continue to embark on 4- to 7-day cruises to Mexico, the Caribbean, Bahamas and Florida. The ship recently underwent a major refurbishment to add Fun Ship 2.0 features such as Seuss at Sea, Camp Ocean, BlueIguana Cantina, Guy’s Burger Joint, BlueIguana Tequila Bar, RedFrog Rum Bar, Alchemy Bar and RedFrog Pub.
