Anthem of the Seas Keel Laid and Homeports Announced

Alongside the rapidly progressing construction of Royal Caribbean International‘s new Quantum of the Seas, the keel to her sister ship to follow – the Anthem of the Seas was just laid at the Meyer Werft shipyard in Papenburg Germany. What’s more, the first homeports for the second Quantum-class vessel were announced as well. The 4,180-guest cruise ship will sail from Southampton, UK when she launches in April 2015 and Fort Lauderdale, Florida beginning in the winter of 2015.

“Our business has a long history with the port of Southampton, and over the last ten years we have annually increased the number of cruise opportunities from the port,” said Adam Goldstein, President and CEO of Royal Caribbean International. “We are now eyeing more growth with the introduction of Anthem of the Seas to the UK market in spring 2015. Our commitment to providing unrivalled holiday experiences onboard the world’s most advanced and activity-packed ships is unwavering.”
