U by Uniworld Names Petra Nemcova ‘Guardian Angel’

Uniworld Boutique River Cruise Collection’s new U by Uniworld brand has chosen model and philanthropist Petra Nemcova to be the line’s “Guardian Angel.” She will be onboard for the October 7-11, 2017 invitation-only “Sneak Peek” U voyage along with contest winners.

“We’re making history with this concept, so rather than follow the traditional ‘Godmother’ path for each individual ship, we’re paving our own way forward,” said Ellen Bettridge, President & CEO of Uniworld, in a press release.

“Petra is an amazing representative of our new brand; she’s smart, ambitious and has a kind, adventurous spirit. As a former Victoria’s Secret model, Petra is, of course, well-versed as an ‘Angel.”

The selection of a “Guardian Angel” over a godmother for the brand dedicated to 21-45-year-olds is just another example of how it is going to differ from the competition. The line also seeks to provide “immersive, authentic and adventurous travel” experiences.

U by Uniworld will support Nemcova’s Happy Hearts Fund organization, which she founded after the 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami and her time rebuilding natural disaster-impacted schools. Currently active in 10 countries worldwide, the non-profit has helped reconstruct over 160 schools and benefited nearly 100,000 students with the means to return.

The October Paris-to-Paris cruise will bring on top social influencers, media and contest-winning agents. In order for agents to enter and potentially join in the “U Time,” those aged 21-45 need craft and post a 30-second video to the U by Uniworld Facebook page. The clip must demonstrate how they will sell the product, using the hashtag #I’mGonnaSellU in the post.

Uniworld’s internal Advisory Board will then select the winners from those that have been liked the most on the social media channel. Certain content will even be featured on

Entries can be submitted through August 15, 2017 at 11:59PM, and voting will take place on August 16-22. Final winners will be revealed on August 23.
