MSC Cruises has officially begun construction of its next cruise ship – the innovative MSC Seaside – at the Fincantieri shipyard in Monfalcone, Italy. When completed, the vessel will sail year-round from Miami, Florida, where MSC will have a newly renovated berth, to the Caribbean beginning in December 2017.

“Today, we have witnessed the beginning of the work on an extraordinary new ship, MSC Seaside,” said MSC Cruises’ Executive Chairman Pierfrancesco Vago. “It is a ship that revolutionizes industry standards, with an audacious and innovative design that brings guests and sea closer. It is also a testament to MSC Cruises’ constant focus on innovation, as it is the fifth prototype ship we’ve designed.”

The 154,000-gross-ton MSC Seaside will carry 4,140 guests and feature a 360° seafront promenade befitting the ship’s name. There will also be a two-deck glass-walled atrium and panoramic exterior elevators. Additionally, the ship will be known for its uniquely expansive and interactive five-water-slide aqua park perched on the upper decks.

Modular connected staterooms, that can together accommodate up to 10 guests, and suites with private whirlpools and hanging gardens will also be highlighted onboard. The cruise ship will also sport an enhanced MSC Yacht Club including a private solarium, lounge and pool.
