Shortly after Crystal Cruises announced massive expansion plans, the line today has further detailed its forthcoming all-inclusive, six-star service Crystal River Cruises brand. Launching in Europe in late March 2017 will be two new vessels that are yacht-like in design and feature a larger space-to-guest ratio and private accommodations than any other river cruise ship.

“We continue to listen to what our guests and the luxury traveler want, and river cruises are what they’ve been telling us they want for some time – it’s a natural extension of the exceptional ocean cruise Crystal has offered for the past 25 years,” says Crystal President and CEO Edie Rodriguez. “But more importantly, they want to experience river cruises on a luxury Crystal vessel, and their desires will be fulfilled on our luxury Crystal river yachts.”

Accommodations

Crystal River Cruises’ river yacht class vessels will be constructed by Lloyd Werft in Germany – the same shipbuilder assigned to the Crystal Exclusive Class ocean ships – and house 70 luxurious suites. The cruise line details the amenities below:

  • 250 square-foot guest suites with walk-in wardrobes, American king size beds and bathrooms with double vanities
  • Two 500 square-foot Penthouse Suites with added comforts and conveniences
  • Spacious public areas, including Palm Court with dance floor and glass domed roof and a well-appointed fitness center and spa

Itineraries

Crystal says it will eliminate pre- and post-cruise hotel stays and multiple packings found on other river cruise lines by utilizing its larger suites, altogether maximizing time in port. What’s more, itineraries will intentionally differ from other river operators to reduce crowds in port. Planned destinations include France, Germany, Switzerland, Holland, Belgium, Austria, Slovakia, Hungary, Croatia, Serbia, Romania and Bulgaria.

Time will be made for both scenic sailing during the day and select overnight stops in port for opportunities like “inclusive culinary experiences ashore at Michelin-starred restaurants and local eateries, and exclusive evening events and entertainment,” says the cruise line. There will even be a luxury yacht tender available for even more secluded experiences.

Crystal Adventures shore excursions will be offered as well as the line’s new Active Exploration Adventures, high-intensity activities, one of which will be included at every port. For other active participation, the vessels will carry bicycles (electric or manual), segways and other active gear for independent use.

Crystal River Cruises itineraries, fares and bookings will be available beginning December 1, 2015. For more information, visit Crystal River Cruises‘ website here.
